Bread!

Joe and I wanted to break in the KitchenAid, but we couldn't decide what to make. We looked through the recipe book that came with it and decided to make bread. Real, slow rising yeast bread. The recipe also had a variation to make cinnamon bread so we made one loaf of white bread and one loaf of cinnamon. It was a great experience. We felt very married. :) We are going to make some more this week!

Joe wanted to document the whole thing.

I also have gorgeous pictures of the french toast we made with the cinnamon loaf, but they aren't on the computer yet.

First present!

As posted before, Joe and I got wonderful gifts at our shower. Yesterday, we received our first wedding gift! I heard a truck outside and saw that fedex was delivering a huge box to our house. Joe brought it inside. We were really excited.

We noticed the box was from Bed Bath and Beyond so we knew it was probably a wedding gift.

The box was from Joe's aunt and her fiance. We opened it and it was the kitchenaid that we registered for! The beautiful ice blue kitchenaid that I was so excited to register for.

I can't believe we are getting wedding presents! The wedding is really coming up. Today I spent the afternoon tying ribbons onto lanterns and working on invitations. I can't wait!

Happy Birthday, Bomani!

We are lucky that we know almost the exact day that our kitty Bomani was born.

Last May, Joe and I decided we were ready to adopt a kitty together. I had always wanted to "pick a kitten out of a box" and the best place to do that is in central Utah. We went to the farmhouse over Memorial Day weekend and I was determined that we were not leaving without a kitten. We drove around looking for "free kitten" signs, but couldn't find any (which is a really good thing!)

Finally, we stopped at the herb shop that frequently advertises free kittens. Apparently, they act as a sort of adoption agency since there really isn't one in town and post information for people who have kittens needing homes. Joe got a phone number and we got in touch with some people with kittens ready to find homes. Joe had said he wanted any color except plain grey. All these kittens happened to be plain grey. We went to pick one anyway.

Picking a kitten from a box is really hard. I wanted the smallest one that had subtle stripes on its legs. Joe wanted a bigger one with ear tufts. Finally, we put both kittens down and waited. The smallest/stripiest one lifted a paw to wash it and that was our new kitty!

We thought he was a girl at first because he was so small so we named him Ava (Avocado). It turned out he was a boy and the runt of the litter so we named him Bomani, Egyptian for warrior.

Today he turned one year old. He had to go to the vet for some tummy medicine, but then he got to play at grandma's and he got a fancy feast appetizer for a special treat.

Baby man

I wanted to post this pic of the baby man (my sweet nephew, James). I took it the other day at the shower and thought it was so cute. He looks like he is deep in thought about something.

Wedding Shower!

Yesterday, Joe and I went to our wedding shower hosted by my sil and moh, Jessica and my mom. We decided to turn the bridal shower into a couple's shower and I'm really glad we did. Joe got to come and he invited some friends from law school.

Jessica turned her house into a tea parlor, complete with fresh flower centerpieces. Everything was beautiful. We started out the party with games: a match the couples game, a lying game, and a newlyweds game. I know some people don't like "shower games," but I love them and had a lot of fun with each game.

After the games, it was time to eat. Jessica and my mom made all the tea sandwiches themselves. They were delicious! Ethan made his famous tea scones and there were several types of jam along with lemon curd and clotted cream. There were a few different types of tea, as well as lemonade. I drank wedding white tea. :)

After everyone was full of tea, sandwiches, scones, fruit tarts, and cannoli, it was time to open presents! I can't believe how generous and thoughtful all the gifts were. Some were from our registry and some were complete surprises. I love everything!

Thanks again to mom and Jessica for putting so much effort into a truly wonderful party!

New Computer!

I'm writing this from my brand new netbook! My laptop is very old and started rapidly going downhill during the last few months. It got to the point where it couldn't even handle gmail for more than 5 minutes at a time. Joe and David picked out a nice little netbook for me on Monday (good timing since Jamie offered Joe and me a very well paying babysitting gig for tonight). It only took 3 days to get here and I am loving it. It's tiny and fast and works so well! And the best part: it's pink!

This week has been so busy. Date night moved to Monday to accommodate a Tuesday night trip to the gym. Wednesday, we dyed Easter eggs, tonight we worked (although to be fair, getting paid to play arcade games with some nice kids isn't really work), tomorrow is the Barrister's Ball (so excited!), Saturday we're going to Heber to spend some time with Joe's mom, Sunday is Easter, date night is moved to Monday again, and birthday dinners are going to happen Tuesday!

That's a busy schedule and I would really like a whole evening to work on wedding related projects. Looks like next Wednesday might be wedding project night. I have just about a month to completely finish the invitations, including replacing all the yellow bows with green ones.

I guess that is all. I am thoroughly enjoying typing on my wonderful new netbook!
